The Carpathians span over 190,000 sq. km. of wilderness across 7 countries, including Poland, Slovakia, Romania, and Ukraine. The vast untamed region is home to most of Europe's surviving large carnivores and its last great forest. More than half of this ancient mountain range lies within modern-day Romania.
